The Sauce restaurant opened it’s first location in Cleveland Heights with enormous success. Kyler Smith, restaurateur, entrepreneur and DJ for Cleveland’s 107.9 at the age of 26, approached Architecture Office about designing it’s future stores. Kyler liked the basic look of it’s original store and with it’s success, didn’t see the need for anything new. We approached Kyler with the new concept and he was floored, deciding to take on the look and branding for future locations.
He built the food concept himself, spending an entire year developing recipe’s for his own secret blend of sauce which are made from fresh ingredients. The restaurant concept features the delicate little sea urchins you eat conveyed by intricate drawings of their crustacean frames garnering the wall as art. The Sauce branding is imbued with drip like wall graphics that explain the concept of ordering, which can be a little confusing on a first visit if you’re not used to eating out of a bag.
The concept is intended to bring a bright and airy eating atmosphere where surfaces can be cleaned easily after eating with your hands. Walls are clad for protection with maple slats, white solid surface counter-tops are easy to clean and polished concrete floors provide texture and durability.
