The 27 Club, a Cleveland, OH based coffee shop, owned by native Machine Gun Kelley (MGK), approached Architecture Office to design the businesses patio expansion. The coffee shop name is inspired by the many greats who have left us too soon.
The terraced patio supports additional seating for the cafe and is inspired by existing architectural language of the interior. The concept is a series of interconnected circles in plan that create serpentine like walls that support benches. This creates communal seating areas while maintaining a significant amount of open space and maximizing seating. The form is created by smooth concrete retaining walls that are full of lush planting beds. Concrete is contrasted by the plantings and wood benches to create a casual and semi-private spatial environment for caffeine and conversation.
